A note from our co-CEOs.

Five years ago, we started Chloris to create the most accurate, reliable, planetary-scale forest carbon estimates, using a foundation of peer-reviewed science and quantifiable validation. It's a discipline we've held since our first biomass data set released on the Microsoft Planetary Computer in 2022.

Since then, our product has grown, and so have we. Chloris, by the numbers:

• 5+ Billion hectares monitored 
• 500+ Billion tons of biomass quantified
• 26 years of global forest carbon dynamics
• 100 countries, and 1,713 jurisdictions with coverage
• 13 terrestrial biomes represented
  

Today, Chloris introduces a new direction for our brand: a new website, updated logo, and branding that better reflects our growth and where we are heading. But the real story is what hasn’t changed about Chloris. Why we started this company, who we built it for, and what we believe in.

Nature-based solutions need trustworthy data, whether they’re managed within land supply sheds or financed through carbon markets. Every business making a nature-related decision, whether it’s a compliance filing or a multi-year offtake agreement, deserves a dataset built for defensibility.

We built Chloris to close those measurement gaps.

Who we are

Chloris has always been a company committed to our defining principles, and these continue to define how we operate:

• Rigorous. We set the bar for the most robust scientific methods that enable us to build the highest quality data. 
• Ambitious. We build for planetary scale. 30-meter resolution, every year since 2000, anywhere in the world. 
• Purposeful. We’re driven by the potential of nature-based solutions to solve the climate crisis. Our data serves as essential carbon market infrastructure, supporting the incentives and imperatives for forest conservation and restoration. 

In just the past year, we’ve taken big steps forward in service of these principles.

We set a new standard for the independent validation of satellite biomass products. Last spring, we released a multi-dataset, multibiome validation of the Chloris AGBD product against four independent reference sources. It explicitly validates biomass change, not just stock accuracy at a single point in time. Detecting and independently verifying gains and losses in forest biomass is essential for restoration projects—where credible biomass accumulation over time underpins both ecological integrity and carbon credit issuance—and for wider degradation monitoring. 

We also released the Chloris Biomass Viewer, providing first-of-its-kind access to Chloris’ global, 30-meter pantropical biomass stock and change data – completely free and accessible to anyone. These tools are an onramp to exploring the most powerful, independently validated data set available to observe carbon dynamics around the planet.

We think of Chloris’ role as the trusted nature-tech leader that converts rigorous measurement into decisive, defensible action. For the clients who depend on our data, the consultants and standards bodies we work alongside, and the broader market still learning to translate nature data into the language of finance and governance.

This re-introduction is a milestone on our path to creating the most rigorously validated ground to build on.

We envision a future where forest-based solutions are used to their fullest potential to solve the climate crisis and create a nature-positive world. By integrating earth observation data with cutting-edge analytics and machine learning, we’re making the design, implementation and monitoring of these solutions scalable.
